Leadership
Led by Session — together with our pastor.
Like every Presbyterian congregation, YPPC is governed by a body of elected elders called the Session, with our pastor as moderator. The Session is responsible for the spiritual life and direction of the church.
The Session
Nine ruling elders, elected by the congregation
Elders serve three-year terms, rotating in classes so the Session always brings together fresh voices and longer-tenured wisdom.

A quick word on Presbyterian governance
Presbyterian churches are governed by elected representatives — that's what the word Presbyterian literally means. The Session is YPPC's local governing body. Above it sits the regional presbytery (for us, Charleston Atlantic Presbytery), then the synod, then the General Assembly of the PC(USA). Local decisions stay local; broader matters get worked out together.
