Pillar One

Glorify God

Gathering each Sunday in casual and traditional worship that draws us into God's presence together.

The first thing we are called to do, together, is to glorify God. That happens most visibly on Sunday — in worship, in song, in scripture read aloud — and it runs through every quieter moment we share through the week.

Sundays at YPPC

Worship at the heart

Our services are casual and traditional — relaxed in atmosphere, recognizable in form. Worship begins at 11:00 a.m., with Sunday School for all ages at 9:45.

Music & choirs

Lifting voices and bells together

Music is a central thread through worship at YPPC. Three choirs — adult, handbell, and children — lead and accompany congregational singing throughout the year.

Chancel Choir

Adults of all ages who lead congregational singing and offer anthems during Sunday worship.

Chancel Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings and sings at the 11:00 a.m. service most Sundays. Music readers are welcome but not required — we’ll teach you what you need to know. New voices are welcome to join in any season.

Handbell Choir

Ringers using YPPC's handbell set, performing in worship on rotating Sundays throughout the year.

Handbells rehearse Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. Reading ability is helpful but the director will teach you the basics — many current ringers started without any prior experience.

Children's Choir

Children who sing during Sunday School and lead worship at the annual Advent Christmas Pageant.

Open to all children K4 through 5th grade. No experience needed. The choir is a regular feature of Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and the centerpiece of our annual Christmas Pageant.

Serving in worship

Ways to take part

Sunday worship runs on the quiet, steady work of volunteers. Each of these roles is open to new participants in any season.

Liturgists

Volunteers who read scripture, lead prayers of confession, and assist in the spoken parts of worship.

Liturgists serve on a rotating basis throughout the year. New liturgists are always welcome — speak to the church office or the Worship & Music Committee if you’d like to serve.

Ushers

Welcome visitors at the door, hand out bulletins, and help with the offering during worship.

Ushers serve on a monthly rotation. It’s one of the most direct ways to make first-time visitors feel welcome at YPPC.

Worship & Music Committee

Plans the worship year, coordinates seasonal music, and supports the work of musicians and liturgists.

The Worship & Music Committee meets regularly to plan worship across the church year — from Advent through Lent, Easter, and the season after Pentecost.

Flower commissioning

Provide sanctuary flowers in honor or memory of a loved one, or in thanksgiving for a special occasion.

Sign up in the church office to commission flowers for a particular Sunday. Dedications appear in that week’s bulletin.
